At The South West Tip Of Mallorca Lies The Beautiful Port Of Andratx

At the South West tip of Mallorca lies the beautiful Port of Andratx. Likened to the St Tropez of Mallorca, and popular with an international and sophisticated crowd is the perfect place to visit to see how the other half lives

With designer clothes boutiques and interior decoration shops, the Port offers hours of window shopping opportunities. And when you are bored of that, there are many seafront restaurants and cafes to choose from where you can gaze out at the bay and the many superyachts moored there

It’s possible to take a short boat trip from Port Andratx to the nearby resort of St Elm which has a lovely beach and safe swimming for families and onwards to the nature reserve, the island of Dragonera.

Wednesdays are also a good day to visit the area if you´d like to browse the morning market (9 am to 1 pm) in the town of Andratx which is 5km from the Port. Be careful if you decide to walk from the town to the port after the market as it’s further than you think on a hot day!

Port Andratx holds its annual fiesta in July. The local fisherman and their wives give thanks for their livelihood with a blessing of the Virgin Mary – her statue is taken from the local church, decorated in flowers and paraded through the town put onto a fishing boat and the entire community travels out in their boats to the mouth of the bay where the local priest blesses the statue. Later in the evening, there is an enormous firework display, live music, a fun fair, and the local kids participate in the correfoc (fire running).
